One-of-a-Kind Original Art for Westport Garden Club

In-Person Only - Sept. 28, 2024. This original 18x24 colored pencil drawing by Kerstin Rao was created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Westport Garden Club.
 
There's only one original... In this age of AI and digital tomfoolery, nothing says old-school authenticity like a colored pencil original, made by hand, right here in Westport.
 
This drawing took 30 hours to complete. It features Aster, Bee Balm, Black-Eyed Susan, Chrysanthemum, Lavender, Montauk Daisy, and Sage. Because the Club is part of the Pollinator Pathway project, for the first time I've added creatures, including Honeybee, Monarch Butterfly, Swallowtail Butterfly, and a Ruby-Throated Hummingbird.
 
It was such a pleasure to gather reference photos of members from 1924 and from today, to select photographs of plants that blossom in the fall, and pull this whole image together with the Compo Beach Pavillion as a cherished Westport landmark.
 
This original will be offered for sale at 100th Anniversary event on Saturday September 28, 2024 at Saugatuck Congregational Church here in Westport, CT between 10-4.
